Actor Ewan McGregor has had a whisky named in his honour by a Perthshire distillery.
The McGregor Malt is the second in a series of limited edition “famous” offerings to be sold at the Glenturret Distillery in Crieff, which is right on the doorstep of where the Star Wars actor grew up.
The distillery will donate £2 from every bottle sold from the Ewan McGregor cask to a charity of his choice.
The tipple was unveiled by his parents Jim and Carol, who still live in the area. To mark the occasion they received a bottle in their famous son’s name.
Stuart Cassells, general manager of the Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery, said: “We are very proud of Ewan’s achievements both in Crieff and all over Scotland, so to be able to honour his famous work by naming our latest Glenturret Bottle Your Own cask after him and share that pride with his parents is a privilege.”
The first whisky in the range was a limited edition Earl and Countess of Strathearn cask, first bottled by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on their visit to the distillery earlier this year.
