A construction firm is trying to block plans to open a dance studio in Kinross.
The purpose-built facility is earmarked for land near the town’s Montgomery Way.
Developer George Webb has submitted his proposal for the hall 360 square metres with Perth and Kinross Council.
If approved, the building will have two studios, a caf and changing rooms.
But the plan has come up against opposition from local housebuilders GS Brown Construction.
The firm has lodged a formal objection, claiming that the proposed building will be too close to several new properties it is working on.
In a letter to planning chiefs, a spokesman for the company said that the northern face of the studio would be 7.5m from the boundary of its site and 14m from the back of the nearest house.
“We assume that a dance studio is likely to produce a considerable amount of noise, which would be detrimental to the amenity of adjacent houses,” he said.
“We think it is highly unlikely that if the dance studio had been erected first (the council) would have been prepared to grant the erection of houses within 14m of it.”
The firm has asked that if planning permission is granted, steps be taken to maximise the distance from nearby homes.
