Man facing jail for violent and sexual attacks on women and children in Perthshire

A man is facing a lengthy jail term after being convicted of a violent and sexual crimes against two women and seven children in Perthshire.

David McLeish was found guilty of rape, sexual assault and assault at various addresses in the area after a two-week trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.

The 49-year-old’s campaign of terror began in September 1996 and ended in December 2009.

His victims who cannot be named for legal reasons were aged between four and 43.

The court heard two women were pregnant when he raped them and that he battered children with belts and slippers.

McLeish was convicted of four charges of rape and two of lewd and libidinous conduct.

He was also found guilty of eight charges of physical assault and two charges of sexual assault.

McLeish has also been placed on the sex offenders register.

He will appear to be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on February 13.
