An improved bus service for the residents of Crieff will start on Monday.
Extra journeys on Saturdays and in school holidays, as well as the inclusion of new streets, are among the improvements being made to the Crieff town service following a public consultation.
More journeys will be made to Strathearn Community Campus, while Ochilview Gardens, Inchbrakie Drive and Gwydyr Road road end at Craigard Road will now be on the route.
There will also be the addition of a later afternoon journey on Saturdays and school holidays; additional journeys to the Turretbank area; and journeys being slightly re-timed to allow better connections with Service 15 to Perth.
John Kellas, convener of Perth and Kinross Council’s enterprise and infrastructure committee, said: “I feel that the introduction of these timetable improvements will better meet the travel needs of existing users and open up new public transport options for residents of Perth and Kinross in the east of Crieff.”
The improvements were made in partnership by Perth and Kinross Council’s public transport unit, Crieff Community Trust, Crieff and Upper Strathearn Partnership (CUSP), and the general public.
The Crieff town service (Number 45) will now be jointly operated by three local bus operators Sweeney’s Garage, Docherty’s Midland Coaches and Burnbrae Garage.
Mr Kellas added: “I am really grateful for the cooperation we have received from Crieff Community Trust and CUSP in taking forward the changes to Service 45.
“The enhancements to Service 45 have been financially supported by the Scottish Government’s Air Quality Action Planning Fund.”
Bus timetable leaflets are available from local outlets, including the council office and Strathearn Community Campus.
A doorstep leaflet drop will also be carried out in the near future.
