Police warning after cash machines targeted by fraudsters in west Fife
ByNews reporter
Police are urging the public to be vigilant after several cash machines in south west Fife were tampered with.
Police have issued the warning after several incidents where people have tampered with ATMs in a bid to obtain the banking details of customers.
Community safety officer PC Keith McLeod said the public should take a few simple steps before they insert their card into a cash machine.
Firstly, always check the ATM thoroughly before inserting bank cards, ensure it has not been tampered with and that there are no loose sections on the front of the machine.
Secondly look out for a camera. It could even be as small as a pin hole.
Thirdly, always keep PINs shielded and check for film over the keypad.
