The Coupar Angus branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland will remain open until April after a mistake by bosses.
The branch had been due to close on February 29, with its two staff moving to Blairgowrie. But the proper period of notice was not given to customers and April 26 has been pencilled in for the closure.
Under FSA rules, banks have to give 12 weeks’ notice before closing a branch. However, in letters sent to customers, the wrong date, or none at all, was given.
A bank spokesman said: ”We would offer our apologies for any confusion this has caused.”
When the move is made, Coupar Angus will be serviced by a mobile bank and ATM.
