Jockey Brian Toomey is moved from intensive care

Jockey Brian Toomey has been moved from the intensive care unit of Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

The 24-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries after falling from his horse at Perth Racecourse on July 4.

He was riding the favourite Solway Dandy in the conditional jockeys handicap hurdle when he fell badly at one of the last hurdles.

Toomey had surgery last week to reduce swelling and pressure on his brain and was placed in an induced coma.

After spending almost a week under sedation, he started to show small signs of movement and has now been transferred to the high dependency unit.
