Police retained a presence on a quiet residential Perth street for much of the day following reports of a horrific knife attack on Tuesday.
Officers were stationed on Logie Crescent in the Letham area of the city as inquiries continued into the dramatic incident.
Neighbours had spoken of hearing screams emanating from one property shortly after 9am on Tuesday morning.
A short time later a man was rushed to hospital by paramedics.
One neighbour told The Courier the victim of the apparent attack had been stabbed “25 times in the face”.
Paramedics rushed the man to hospital and it is understood he is being treated for what have been described as “serious” injuries.
After Tuesday’s drama the scene was far closer to resembling normality yesterday, with locals going about their business without interference.
Nevertheless, police officers were maintaining a discreet presence with cars stationed on the street.
Meanwhile, a Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed that a probe into the incident was continuing.
“Inquiries are ongoing following reports of a disturbance at Logie Crescent, Perth, at 9.20am on Tuesday morning,” she said.
It is understood the injured man, who was described by neighbours as a “quiet guy”, is in his thirties.
He had lived in the area for more than two years.
