A Stanley man assaulted his partner with a packet of their child’s nappies and slapped her in the face after she said she wanted to leave him.
Lee Guthrie, 29, of Perth Road, admitted the offence which took place at his home address on November 27 last year.
The court heard the pair had been in a relationship for three years and at the time had an 18-month-old child.
Depute Fiscal Rebecca Kynaston stated that at the time of the assault the complainer had informed Guthrie she was no longer happy and would be moving out.
She said Guthrie had returned to their Perth Road address after drinking in a pub.
“He picked up a pack of 36 nappies and threw them in the direction of the complainer, who was sitting on the couch, but missed her,” Ms Kynaston said.
“He picked up the nappies again, stood immediately in front of her and threw them in her face. He then took off her glasses and slapped her two to three times to the face.”
Solicitor Paul Ralph, defending, said the couple’s relationship was now “cordial.”
Guthrie was sentenced to 200 hours’ unpaid work and ordered to take part in the relationship programme for a year.
