Perth man hit wife after she challenged him over online relationship

A Perth man who struck his wife across the face with the back of his hand after she challenged him over an online relationship will be sentenced on January 21.
The city’s sheriff court heard that Amjad Aziz, 42, had texted and emailed another woman for weeks before he told his partner he wished a divorce.
“When she attempted to speak to him about their marriage he slapped her across the face before telling her to sit in the hallway while he made his lunch,” depute fiscal Rebecca Kynaston told the court.
While he calmly ate his meal in the living room of their family home in Struan Road, tearful Shabana Aziz contacted the police on her mobile telephone.
Aziz admitted assaulting his wife to her injury on August 5 this year.
Sheriff William Wood told him: “This was a serious incident. You struck your wife with enough force that she was bruised when police officers arrived.”
