Hunt for Chinese lots after vase sells for £13,600
ByThe Courier Reporter
A Chinese vase exceeded all expectations when it was sold for £13,600 at auction in Perth, soaring above the pre-sale estimate of £1,000 to £1,500.
Auctioneer Nick Burns, of Lindsay Burns and Company, is now on the hunt for the next Chinese lot that may be languishing in an attic or on top of a wardrobe.
“It was hotly contested by internet bids coming in via the auctioneers’ live bidding platform and several telephone bidders,” he said.
“This price follows on from the £55,000 paid for a blue and white bottle vase sold by us in 2011, showing that the market for Chinese pieces continues to remain strong.
“I would be delighted to hear from anyone who think they may have a Chinese vase or object that would make the headlines in our summer sale of antiques and Asian art.”
