A day at Perth Races proved costly for a man who ended up being caught by police when he was over the limit for driving and was fined £600 at court.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that police received a phone call that Stuart Kerr, 66, of Paisley, may have been driving under the influence of alcohol at 6.50pm.
“The accused was stopped by officers and later given a breath test,” depute fiscal Tina Dickie said.
Solicitor Erica Watson, defending, said her client had been at Perth Races and “fell in with a crowd”.
“My client started socialising with these people but made the mistake of thinking he could drive,” she said.
“He moved his car when he was looking for accommodation for the night.”
Kerr admitted that on July 13 on Queen’s Bridge, Tay Street, Canal Street, King Street, County Place, York Place and Glasgow Road, all Perth, he drove with excess alcohol (80 mics).
