The creative efforts of two Courier Country youths have won the approval of European Ryder Cup team captain Paul McGinley.
He picked the winners in a competition backed by The Courier to design official event merchandise.
Now Charlotte Young, a P7 pupil at Invergowrie Primary, and 12-year-old Stephanie Kydd who attends Monifieth High School, will design a cap and a polo shirt respectively in partnership with Glenmuir to be sold at Gleneagles.
All profits from the sales will be donated to the event’s official charities.
Paul said of the polo shirt design: “Stephanie’s design caught my eye because of the predominance of European blue in the main body of the shirt as well as a hint of the gold of the stars on the European flag, where Gleneagles and Scotland have also been highlighted.”
Discussing Charlotte’s baseball cap design, the Irish golfer said: “This was an effective design and I liked the classic simplicity of it as well as the gentle nod towards Scotland with the hint of the Saltire on the peak. I think its light blue colour would also sit well with the dark blue of the shirt winner.”
The winners will both now work with Ann Miller, design and buying director at Glenmuir, to get their entries into production.
“We would like to thank all of the contributors for their innovative designs,” Ann said.
“It is wonderful to see that same passion and creativity from all of our young contributors.
“We are looking forward to getting the winning designs into production.”
