Hundreds of spectators travelled to Birnam Highland Games on Saturday to see a long-time runner-up finally triumph in the haggis-eating arena.
Dancers, pipers and sportsmen all competed for top place at the extravaganza.
Competition was also wide open in the World Championship Haggis Eating Competition, with Martin Bristow, of Murthly, emerging victorious.
Martin has been runner-up several years running but managed to clinch the title by eating 1lb of the traditional Scottish dish in the fastest time.
The recent wet weather cleared to leave the day bright and sunny for visitors, which included musician Dougie McLean.
One of the highlights of the day was the Atholl Highlanders and their cannon.Click here for a full photo galleryThe private army, employed by the Duke of Atholl, fired the lightweight artillery in the main arena, to the delight of the packed crowd.
Organising committee chairman Ewan Alcorn hailed the day as a “fantastic success”.
He said: “The games went very well and we had a great turnout.
“The Atholl Highlanders brought their gun, a pipe band and the Queen’s colours. The gun went off at 3pm, which was very exciting though it frightened half the crowd.
“We also have a new haggis-eating champion in Martin Bristow. It’s been four years in trying for him he’s come second three times.”
