Dundee Sheriff Court deals with drunken sailor early in the morning

The question of what to do with the drunken sailor was answered this morning when Latvian sea captain Andrejs Borodins was jailed for four months.
Borodins, 53, had admitted sailing his Norwegian-based 300ft container ship down the River Tay from Perth while almost four times the limit on July 28.
Sheriff Alastair Brown told Borodins he was jailing him due to the seriousness of his actions in piloting the ship down the narrow part of the river, which he described as: “a very serious offence” with “the potential to do serious damage and to put lives at risk.”
Borodins, who was assisted by a Russian-speaking interpreter, admitted that, while being the professional master of the ship the Frifjord, of sailing the vessel on the River Tay between Perth and Dundee and at Dundee Harbour while almost four times the legal limit (137 mics). The legal limit is 35 mics.
