Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance hopes for Bank of Scotland Community Fund awards help

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) is hoping people power will help secure much-needed funding for its frontline emergency helicopter.

The country’s only charity-funded helicopter, based at Perth Airport, has been shortlisted in the Bank of Scotland Community Fund 2014 awards for the Scone/Blairgowrie area.

With the voting support of the public, SCAA could secure a grant of up to £3,000.

It has already responded to nearly 400 time-critical emergencies across Scotland but relies entirely on public donations to carry out its rapid response service.

Chief executive Gavin Davey said: “This charity is there for every community and has played a crucial role in helping those in desperate need in the Blairgowrie and Scone areas and in communities across Scotland.

“Although still a relatively new charity, we have quickly become an important part of the emergency response network, proving particularly effective in slashing journey times to hospital.

“By voting for SCAA, people can help save lives.”

Voting continues until October 10 and votes can be registered at www.BankofScotland.com/communityfund, via SMS or Twitter or at Bank of Scotland branches in Blairgowrie Scone and Coupar Angus.

Only one vote can be made via each platform but all can be used once by each voter.
