A Milnathort woman has been fined £300 for leaving threatening voice messages on the phone of a man she had communicated with through a dating website.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that Rhona Lamont, 22, of Whyte Court, left 12 messages with the man one day, followed by another six the next day.
Depute fiscal Stuart Richardson said: “The pair communicated through a dating website but, after a time, the man said he didn’t wish to continue with this and stopped contacting the accused.
“However, matters reached a height when she left 12 messages on his home phone one day and six the following day.”
The court heard the man became “fed up” with this and contacted police, who spoke to Lamont. She then swore at the officers.
Billy Sommerville, defending, said his client accepted she had “difficulties” with alcohol.
Lamont admitted that between April 13 and 15 at her home address she repeatedly contacted a man by leaving nuisance and threatening voicemail messages.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said: “I am tempted to draw a line under this. This is a situation where nuisance calls become criminal.”
