Fundraisers take the heat during Kinross hot coal walk
ByThe Courier Reporter
Kinross-shire residents proved their bravery on Saturday by walking on hot coals to raise funds for the Scottish Cot Death Trust.
The event was organised by Wilma Carragher in memory of her son, Andrew, who died 24 years ago, aged just 16 weeks.
She and her other sons, Chris, Liam and Jamie, were among those taking on the challenge at the Windlestrae Hotel in Kinross.
Temperatures of 600-800F proved no barrier as they strode out to raise money for the charity’s Next Infant Support Programme, which helps families when they go on to have another child after a cot death.
The money raised will help to provide a new sibling reading resource, Andrew’s Rainbow.
It is the second book to be published by the charity following the successful launch of Rory’s Star, which focused on children who have shared the loss of their brother or sister.
Andrew’s Rainbow will be written to support those who are born to families that have already had experience of a cot death and will help parents to respond to all the questions that come with that.
