Delights of yesteryear on show at Scone vintage tractor rally
ByMark Mackay
Huge crowds made their way to Scone Palace for the Scottish Vintage Tractor and Engine Club Farming Yesteryear and Vintage Rally.
Scotland’s biggest event of its type brought a huge variety of vintage tractors, stationary engines, steam engines and agricultural machinery to Perthshire.
The collecting of vintage machinery has taken off in recent years. The passion has clearly translated to the public at large as many hundreds of people enjoyed exploring the vehicles on show.
Many of the machines were pressed into service for working demonstrations of ploughing, combining and threshing.
There was an impressive collection of vintage cars, lorries and other vehicles on display, together with trade stands and an auto jumble.
Club members also presented a cheque for £1,630 to the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS), raised during their annual road run.
Motorists making their way to the show did face lengthy delays, however, as roadworks at Bridgend caused congestion.
