Comrie has become the latest Perthshire town to be signed up to a local resilience plan.
New generator hook-up points are to be installed at the White Church as part of a council-backed project to ensure rural locations are not kept in the dark in the event of a power cut.
The installations are precautionary measures and come after residents in the Pitlochry area were left without power due to adverse winter weather conditions in recent winters.
Hook-up points have already been installed in Pitlochry’s Atholl Centre and the local school as part of the town’s community resilience plan.
The Village Hall in Glenfarg has also had hook-up points installed and plans are being looked at to install more in a number of other locations across Perth and Kinross before winter sets in.
Barbara Renton, depute director of the environment service for Perth and Kinross Council said: “I am confident the move will safeguard local people over the coming months, especially our older and more vulnerable residents.
“We are also working to establish robust plans to combat a major storm, flood or other major incident.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for their commitment to ensuring this extremely important resilience initiative is a success.”
