More than £3.3 million has been invested in the A9 between Perth and Dunblane in preparation for the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles this week.
BEAR Scotland has carried out various initiatives on the key route on behalf of Transport Scotland as 45,000 people from around the world descend on the Perthshire site each day of the event.
Work on the trunk road, which usually sees a volume of 25,000 vehicles daily, includes surfacing, central reservation refurbishments and layby improvements. Further works such as litter picking, road sweeping, sign repairs and road markings have also been undertaken.
Twin temporary footbridges over the A9 at Gleneagles have been installed to allow thousands of spectators arriving at Gleneagles train station to access the golf course.
Andy Thompson, of BEAR Scotland, said: “These works mean that the A9, as the key road artery to this global event, is in peak condition to handle the additional demand.”
