Wholesale changes are to be made to Perth and Kinross Council services in the coming months in a bid to cut costs.
A number of services will begin moving to new premises to reduce the number of offices used in the city centre.
The two-year Perth Office Programme (POP) will result in a great deal of disruption to services and will change the way residents access services.
In the longer term, however, the council believes that the changes will make financial sense and will enable customers to access services more easily.
The process will begin with parking business support which administers blue badges and takes payment of parking fines and roads network management, which administers skip and scaffold forms and road closure applications.
They will be moving from the Atrium building in Glover Street to Pullar House from Friday October 10.
Other teams making the same move will include waste services, trading standards, environmental health, the transport unit and roads infrastructure.
There will also be the beginnings of a move away from the council’s Blackfriars Development Centre in the city’s North Port.
The council believes modern methods of working, such as flexible work spaces in open plan offices, will enable more services to be based in Pullar House.
As those services move, councillors, senior directors and staff in democratic services will shift temporarily into the Atrium and Blackfriars while essential maintenance is carried out at 2 High Street.
By the end of 2016, the programme will be complete and the council will vacate Blackfriars and the Atrium entirely.
The programme will reduce the number of leased properties, making savings from reduced rental and service costs.
It should also gather together all “customer facing” jobs and departments in one place, enabling residents to access services more easily at one central point.
The local authority insists that services will not suffer during the change programme.
Councillor John Kellas said: “We want to make sure all customers who currently use services at the Atrium know to come to Pullar House after October 10.
“As well as writing to regular customers, we are putting information online and will have posters up in the building.
“If you know someone who has a blue disabled parking badge, we would also ask that residents check they know about the move to help minimise any inconvenience to them.”
