A young motorist who was clocked speeding along the M90 at 118mph has been banned from the road.
Andrew Mills was spotted by police as he bombed down the Inverkeithing to Perth motorway at well above the 70mph limit.
The 23-year-old appeared at Perth Sheriff Court on Tuesday and admitted a charge of driving dangerously on Monday June 9.
The offence was committed just before 9pm near the Glenrothes turn-off at junction five.
Depute fiscal Bill Kermode said that police used a laser gun to record Mills’s speed. They then followed his silver Toyota and activated their blue lights to pull it over.
Representing himself in court, Mills, of Buie Rigg, Kirkliston, West Lothian, said: “I was just being stupid and reckless and there was really no excuse for it.”
He said that he used his car to drive to and from work at a mobile phone shop in Edinburgh.
Mills was fined £500 and banned for a year and Sheriff Michael Fletcher told him that he will have to sit an extended driving test.
