More than 80 rally cars and crews from across the UK took to the forests of Highland Perthshire at the weekend in what has become an annual fixture on the motor sport calendar.
The Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally on Saturday was the penultimate round of the 2014 ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship, Scotland’s premier motor sporting championship series.
The rally got under way with an early start in Aberfeldy before the competitors took in various forest stages including the Hermitage, Drummond Hill and Craigvinean before returning to Aberfeldy late in the afternoon.
This event was also the final round of the MSA British Historic Rally Championship.
To tie in with the event, the Coltness Car Club organising team hosted a motor sports forum on Friday evening in the Breadalbane Community Campus.
Heading the guest list was three-times Indiana-polis 500 race winner and the most successful Scottish racing driver in American motor sport, Dario Franchitti.
Also on the guest list were Jim McRae, John MacCrone and the top four Scottish Championship title contenders, Euan Thorburn, David Bogie, Mike Faulkner and Jock Armstrong.
The dramatic stage was won by Borderer Euan Thorburn and Inverness co-driver Paul Beaton after rival David Bogie went off close to the finish line.
