ByRichard Burdge
The first tenants of a £1.4 million development in Abernethy by Kingdom Housing Association were welcomed to their new homes by the association’s chairperson Charles Milne.
The development of 12 three-bedroomed homes has been built A&J Stephen at the Provost Mains site.
The houses received £431,000 from the Scottish Government, which will allow Kingdom to let the homes at a mid market rent, to priority applicants.
Mid-market rent projects aim to help people on low or modest incomes, who are employed, to access quality, affordable rented homes.
Mr Milne said: “Most people in Scotland are facing financial pressures in the current economic environment and mid-market rented homes provides an affordable housing option for people who have difficulties obtaining social rented housing and would find it hard to buy their own home or rent in the private sector.”
New resident Lesley Manson said: This project has given us the opportunity to move nearer to my husband’s work and to live in affordable housing in a great location.”
