The benefits of T in the Park have been laid out, with its organisers claiming the music festival added around £15.4 million to the Scottish economy this year.
Locally, they state the event generated more than £2.7 million to Perth and Kinross.
The study, which was carried out by EKOS, showed that this year’s T in the Park at Balado, Kinross-shire, had a 62% increase in its economic benefit to the nation since the last study in 2011.
In a separate survey of people living outwith Scotland who were deemed to be ‘lapsed’ or ‘potentially interested’ festival goers, T in the Park was named the second most desirable music festival to visit in the UK, just behind Glastonbury.
Geoff Ellis, chief executive officer of DF Concerts and Events, said T in the Park “continues to increase in value” for the Scottish economy as a whole.
“The festival has taken place in Kinross for 18 years and while we’re extremely sad to leave the area that has made us feel so welcome for so long, we’re delighted to continue our commitment to the Perthshire area by relocating to Strathallan Castle in 2015,” he added.
