Blairgowrie pensioner fined after knocking man down

A former college lecturer who drove through a red light and knocked over a pedestrian was fined at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday.
Alexander Dickie, 79, of William Geddes Place, Blairgowrie, previously admitted that, on March 14 on Crieff Road, Perth, he drove a car without due care and attention, failed to obey a red traffic signal at a pedestrian crossing and collided with David Anthony Lynch, causing him injury.
Depute fiscal Chris McIntosh said the offence occurred at 4.50pm and the accused “simply drove through the crossing, failed to stop at the lights and knocked the complainer down.”
The 20-year-old man who was treated for two broken ribs and bruises.
Dickie’s defence agent said there had been two sets of lights around the same location.
Sheriff Kevin Veal fined him £300 and gave him six penalty points.
