A bouncer admitted being heavy handed when a problem punter failed to take the hint.
Webster Mudie had been helping out with the security arrangements at a kickboxing tournament in Perth’s Salutation Hotel.
During the course of the evening, a fight broke out next to the ring and the culprit, who was known to the bouncers, was ejected. Perth Sheriff Court heard that he was hanging around outside the hotel when Mudie launched his “unprovoked” attack.
The 43-year-old punched him on the face, causing the man to fall to the ground. Representing himself, Mudie told the court that he had felt threatened when his victim walked towards him holding a bottle.
He said: “I pushed him away but he still came at me. I pushed him again and he fell to the ground.”
Mudie, of Balmano Park, Bridge of Earn, admitted the assault on February 9. Sheriff Michael Fletcher accepted that there were no serious injuries and imposed a fine of £300.
