The owners of a Perthshire hotel are celebrating after it saw off competition to be named Scottish Hotel of the Year in the prestigious 2015 Good Hotel Guide.
The Green Park in Pitlochry which overlooks Loch Faskally is described as “faultless” by the guide.
It is run by Alistair and Diane McMenemie, the second generation of the family in charge, and the couple will receive their award today in a ceremony in Kensington in London.
“We are very, very pleased by this award, absolutely delighted,” said Mrs McMenemie.
They took over the 16-bedroom hotel in 1997 and thought their success was down to providing a friendly welcome to guests.
Mrs McMenemie said the majority of their guests came from elsewhere in Scotland.
Her husband Alistair said: “With the Good Hotel Guide, you have no control over it. They choose you so this is entirely unexpected for us.
“Winning, in many ways, validates how we try to manage things for our customers, some of whom come back to see us two or three times a year.”
Another Perthshire establishment features prominently in the guide awards the Moor of Rannoch Hotel is named as Newcomer of the Year.
The hotel is situated beside Rannoch Station on the West Highland Line and is surrounded by the rugged landscape of Rannoch Moor which is often described as the last true wilderness in Europe.
The Moor of Rannoch Hotel prides itself on being a retreat from the modern world as there are no televisions or internet access, no phones in the guest bedrooms and mobile phone reception varies from poor to non-existent.
To make up for this they have a large selection of books, games and jigsaws and a good range of malt whisky to help pass the evenings.
The five-bedroom hotel is run by Scott Meikle and Steph Graham who are also heading to London for the awards.
