A rare car has sold for £46,500 in a Perthshire auction.
The 1935 Alvis Speed Twenty Mayfair is one of a sought-after marque which was favoured by people ranging from royalty to pop stars to murderers.
The car was sold by Errol-based Morris Leslie Vehicle Auctions as part of its Classic Vehicle and Machinery sale on June 29.
Experts say that when new the car would have had a comparable price tag to a Rolls-Royce. The Alvis Car and Engineering Company was founded in 1919 and was bought over by Rover in the late 1960s.
Fans include Prince Phillip, Douglas Bader, Danish pop duo Nina & Frederik and Acid Bath murderer John George Haigh. Other owners have included King Ghazi of Iraq, George Formby, champion jockey Steven Donoghue and novelist Alec Waugh.
