Film fans in Perth will soon be able to enjoy high-quality viewing thanks to a major investment in the city’s cinema.
Perth Playhouse will become just the fourth venue in Scotland to boast a state-of-the-art IMAX screen.
It is understood that the new feature will be unveiled this summer in the existing Screen One.
Leisure firm G1 Group has unveiled a deal with IMAX Corporation its first with an independent cinema operator in the UK.
Managing director Stefan King said: “As we embark on a revitalisation of the iconic Perth Playhouse, this agreement is the perfect marriage of Scotland’s cinematic history and the world’s most advanced cinematic technology.”
IMAX screens are larger than standard cinema screens, providing a sharper picture, better sound and realistic 3D images.
The Glasgow Science Centre boasts the first IMAX cinema to be built in Scotland, which opened to the public in October 2000.
Since then, screens have been added to cinemas in Edinburgh and Renfrew.
