‘Huge’ St Johnstone supporters’ flag stolen from McDiarmid Park

Brazen thieves scaled a 12ft perimeter wall at the home of St Johnstone FC to steal a “huge” supporters’ flag measuring 20 by 30 feet.
The Perth club are looking at CCTV footage of the crime, which took place around 9pm on Sunday in the North Stand at McDiarmid Park.
The flag belongs to St Johnstone Junior Supporters’ Club and is usually kept in the North Stand and laid out prior to home games.
Paul Smith, football administrator with St Johnstone, said the flag “means a lot” to the junior supporters and is appealing for its return to the club.
“These people scaled a perimeter wall and stole the flag from the North Stand on Sunday,” he said.
“Due to the huge size of the flag, it is usually kept here and put out before home games.
“Regrettably it has been stolen and we are looking closely at CCTV footage which shows two people outside the ground at this time. The people who stole this must have known where it was kept.”
