The final phase of a £140,000 programme of safety improvements on the A9 south of Broxden, Perth, will begin at the weekend.
BEAR Scotland will install a new safety barrier on the northbound verge between East Lamberkine and the roundabout at Broxden.
This work is being done with the aim of reducing the number of injuries caused by vehicles leaving the carriageway and striking roadside objects, such as trees.
In an effort to minimise disruption, the work will be carried out with a nearside lane closure between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night from Sunday.
A 50mph speed limit will apply during the works, which are expected to take five nights to complete. The package of works is part of an interim safety plan for the A9 being promoted by the A9 Safety Group.
The cost of this final phase, which is being funded by Transport Scotland, is around £12,000.
Andy Thompson, for BEAR Scotland, said the works were part of the ongoing programme of measures to help improve driver safety on the A9.
“Although the works are being planned to minimise disruption, motorists should allow some extra time for their journeys,” he added.
