Mystery surrounds 100-year-old football badge dug up in Perthshire
ByThe Courier Reporter
A mysterious badge dug up in a Perthshire field could originate from Glasgow.
The finder who wishes to remain anonymous found the item between Crieff and Comrie a fortnight ago.
After some careful research, the Dundee-based metal detectorist has come to believe that the initials etched on the front of the century-old piece represent Yoker Boys, a football club based on the banks of the river Clyde.
It is not known how the badge ended up in Perthshire.
The first clue to the badge’s origin came from the words “outside left”, an old term for a midfield player, before another metal detectorist noticed that the background looks like an old fashioned football.
