Perthshire puts out welcome mat for Canadian travel writers
ByRichard Burdge
Canadian travel writers have been visiting Perthshire to gather material for features on the area.
Members of the group enjoyed a whisky tasting hosted by Dewars Distillery at the Mains of Taymouth, Kenmore, where they also enjoyed dinner and an overnight stay.
They also took a trek in the mountains and a 4×4 off-road trip at Highland Safaris at Aberfeldy.
Richard Pinn, regional director of VisitScotland, said: “We are delighted to host quality travel and features writers from Canada and have worked with VisitBritain to ensure we maximise upon the opportunity to host them here in Perthshire.
“Many businesses in the Perthshire area are involved in hosting Homecoming Scotland 2014 events.
“International press coverage will encourage visits in 2014, when Scotland is in the international spotlight with the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup, and also encourage visitors to keep coming in 2015 and beyond.”
