Among the hundreds of walkers lining up to take part in this year’s Scone Pink Ribbonwalk will be many people who have benefited from the services of the charity Breast Cancer Care.
Sheena Mulhern, 48, from Kinross who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 has done the walk twice.
“My family and I are so very grateful for all the care and treatment I received we wanted in some small way to ‘give back‘ anything we could to help others in the same position,” she said.
“My daughter Mairi, who was only eight when I was diagnosed, my family, friends, and I, have raised money over a few years now through the Scone Pink Ribbonwalk.
“Initially myself and two friends, Jean and Marion, walked the Scone Palace 10-mile course in memory of a dear friend, and last year Marion and I walked the full 20 miles with close friends in mind, and to celebrate eight years since my diagnosis.
“It was a fantastic day, the atmosphere was exciting and encouraging, and full of camaraderie and hope.”
She added: It is a gorgeous setting, taking you along the banks of the Tay, and I would encourage anyone to participate in such an enjoyable and so very worthwhile event.
“The care and support that Breast Cancer Care gave has made a huge difference to me.”
The Scone event, which is being supported by The Courier, is on Saturday June 14, from the palace through the Perthshire countryside, past historical landmarks and along tranquil riverside trails.
