Too many van drivers do not know they are breaking the speed limit, the manager of Tayside’s safety camera partnership has warned.
Arron Duncan was speaking in the wake of a survey that found many motorists were unsure how fast they could go on certain types of road.
“This is particularly the case among van drivers, many of whom appear to be unaware that most vans are restricted on national speed limit roads,” he said.
“The restriction means that they generally have a limit 10mph less than cars.”
A poll found that 65% of van drivers were unable to say what the speed limit for light commercial vehicles was on a single carriageway outside a built-up area.
It is 50mph, compared to 60mph for cars.
Tayside safety camera partnership is distributing free dashboard stickers to businesses showing speed limits for vans.
