Teen caught trying to smuggle phone and drugs into Perth Prison
ByThe Courier Reporter
A teenager was caught trying to smuggle illicit goods into Perth Prison in the soles of his trainers.
Dylan Leisk, 18, stashed a mobile telephone and charger and a quantity of prescription drugs before visiting inmate Scott Bruce.
Surprised staff then watched on CCTV as he attempted to escape notice as he swapped shoes with the prisoner.
The bid unsurprisingly failed and prison officers seized both pairs of trainers and passed them through a security X-ray machine.
That scan immediately revealed the presence of the phone and officers then tore off the false heels to reveal the items within.
They included a phone, a battery and charger and 60 tablets, which were later identified as the painkiller dihydrocodeine worth as much as £130 within the prison.
Leisk, of Bannerman Place in Aberdeen, admitted giving a personal communication device to Scott Bruce inside Perth Prison on June 16 last year. He also admitted being concerned in the supply of dihydrocodeine.
Sentence was deferred until April 30 for reports, with Leisk likely to face a period of detention for the offence.
