In The Courier Weekend magazine behind the scenes at Blair Castle
ByThe Courier Reporter
Blair Castle has stood proudly in position for rather a long time. And it is quite majestic.
But what goes on inside?
This weekend’s Courier magazine takes you behind the scenes at one of Scotland’s most beautiful castles.
Columnist Helen Brown spent a day at the 700-year-old seat of the Duke of Atholl.
She met everyone from the lady who polishes the china room very, very gingerly to the fellow who looked after the estate’s 145,000-acre grounds for more than 50 years.
Over the years some things have become easier for, example the staff now have texts and email to communicate through the castle’s vast network of floors and corridors.
But much of the castle’s running remains the same as it has for hundreds of years.
After seven centuries the old girl is gearing up for a busy 2014 season.
