Reports of scarlet fever outbreak at Dalguise adventure centre probed
BySandra Gray
An investigation has been launched following reports of an outbreak of scarlet fever at a Perthshire adventure centre.
People taking part in activities at Dalguise, near Dunkeld have been experiencing symptoms of the illness, which closed several schools in Dundee last month.
Now, Health Protection Scotland (HPI) is liaising with NHS Boards and Perth and Kinross Council to deal with the issue.
PGL, which operates the facility, confirmed it was supporting the initial investigations and following infection control advice in a bid to prevent the bacterial disease spreading further.
Anyone who has taken part in activities or attended at the Dalguise centre since March 28 and has experienced a pink-red rash, or other symptoms, is urged to contact their GP for further advice.
Alternatively, they are asked to call the NHS inform helpline on 0800 224488.
