Investigation work between the Broxden and Inveralmond roundabouts will begin next week.
The work is being carried out by Structural Soils Limited on behalf of Perth and Kinross Council and Transport Scotland from April 7 until April 18 between 7.30pm and 6.30am.
The investigations relate to the A9/A85 road and junction improvement scheme and will determine the ground conditions prior to the construction of the carriageway infrastructure.
Traffic management will be put in place for the duration of the work and will involve nearside lane restrictions on the southbound carriageway of the A9.
Signs will be installed on all approaches to the works site to keep motorists informed.
A council spokesman said: “Every effort will be made to keep noise to a minimum and no works will be undertaken over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
“We would like to thank residents and motorists for their understanding while these works are being undertaken.”
