St Johnstone players urge supporters to know the score on cancer

St Johnstone are urging their supporters to take up a screening test that can detect bowel cancer early.
The club’s stars are backing a Scottish Government campaign by encouraging fans between the ages of 50 and 74 in Perthshire to take the test.
Almost 4,000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year in Scotland, but nine out of 10 people survive if it is detected early.
Club captain Dave Mackay has been learning about the disease and said: “It’s shocking to hear that bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in Scotland.
“The good news is that, if it’s found at an early stage, the disease is very treatable, with more than nine out of 10 people surviving if it’s caught early.
“We know it can be embarrassing to talk about but we want to urge our supporters and local people who are over 50 to take the bowel cancer screening test as soon as they receive it through the post as it could save their life.”
