A new generation of athletes once again made the pilgrimage to Perthshire for a major event.
Cementing the area’s reputation as a hub for cyclists, the GB Cycling Youth Tour of Scotland chose Perth as a venue for the second year.
The city centre was transformed into a closed road circuit on Sunday for a race that had echoes of the final time trial of the Tour de France.
More than 100 young riders provided an exciting spectacle for residents and visitors, who were given the unique opportunity of spotting the next Bradley Wiggins or Mark Cavendish.
The Scottish Power-sponsored Youth Tour, which is supported by Perth and Kinross Council and has been organised by British Cycling and Scottish Cycling, also headed out into the local countryside.
The first stage of the competition involved a 1km circuit through the centre of Perth, while the second stage was an individual time trial within the grounds of Strathallan School.
The event continued on Monday with road races around Forteviot and the finale took place on Tuesday with a two-mile course between the Strathallan and Forgandenny.
By the end of the three-day competition event, the general classification stood with Rhona Callander of the East Mid Scotland 1 team at the top of the girls’ leader board, while Sebastian Dickens from the Sports Traider RT led the boys.
