£145,000 being spent on smoother drive for A9 motorists

More than £145,000 is being invested in a 2.7km stretch of the A9 in a bid to solve its chronic issues with potholes and surface defects.
The carriageway will undergo significant overnight improvement works between Nertherton Farm and Blackford.
The repairs begin onSunday at 7.30pm and will then take place over five nights, with the condition of both northbound lanes being addressed.
Motorists using the stretch between that time and 6am each day will find a convoy system and 10mph speed limit in operation in order to ensure the safety of the workforce and motorists.
“These works will repair a number of potholes and surface defects and will improve the general condition of the road for motorists,” said Andy Thompson from BEAR Scotland.
“The works are being carried out overnight to minimise delays but we would, nonetheless, encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance and allow some extra time.”
Road markings and studs will also be refreshed.
