Children man the muskets during visit to The Black Watch Museum
ByThe Courier Reporter
A group of children got their hands on some dangerous weapons.
Fortunately, the youngsters were learning about the artillery used by soldiers from The Black Watch, rather than rampaging through the city.
They were at Balhousie Castle in Perth, attending an event detailing the science behind the firearms in the museum’s collection.
Led by volunteers, the workshop gave the children the opportunity to handle a Brown Bess musket and short magazine Lee Enfield rifle, as well as taking part in a number of activities and experiments.
The next event at the Black Watch Castle and Museum will be a drop-in craft session on Tuesday between 1 and 4pm.
