A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a 4×4 car on the A9 Perth to Inverness road, with the road being closed in both directions as a result.
The accident took place around 11.49am on Monday outside the House of Bruar, with emergency personnel in attendance.
Two ambulances were sent along with two fire units, one from Dunkeld and one from Pitlochry.
Traffic ground to a halt with the single stretch part of the road busy with Easter Monday holiday traffic.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed that a male biker died as a result of the collision.
“The motor-cyclist was fatally injured as a result of the accident,” she said.
“A Helimed was in attendance but the biker died at the scene. Firecrew freed a female from a 4 x 4 vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment.”
And Police Scotland’s Tayside Division confirmed the collision had taken place on the busy road at its junction with the House of Bruar shop and caf.
“The road is currently closed in both directions while investigations take place and there are long traffic tailbacks,” a police spokesperson commented.
Traffic was diverted to Blair Atholl and Pitlochry with one motorist describing it as “nose to tail.”
