Week of overnight roadworks to repair potholes on A9
ByPaul Reoch
Repair work on a section of the A9 will begin on Sunday and will last for seven nights.
The £218,000 investment by Transport Scotland will see a 1.5km southbound stretch of the road at Upper Cairnie undergo improvement works, with the aim being to provide a “smoother surface.”
This will involve repairs to the southbound carriageway and a convoy system of traffic management will be in operation between 7.30pm and 6.30am the following morning, with a 10mph speed limit.
During the works it may be necessary to restrict access to and from the B934 and Cairnie Braes local road. Signed diversions will be in place as necessary.
Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s north-east unit representative, said: “These works will enhance the road condition for motorists, as it sees the repair of a number of cracks, potholes and fretting issues.
“The improvements are being carried out overnight to minimise delays. We would, however, encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance and allow some extra time.”
