A nurse at a Blairgowrie care home faces being struck off over claims she pinned down a patient and forcibly cut her nails.
Avril Mcerlain was working at Beech Manor when she allegedly subjected the elderly woman to the treatment in May 2012.
It is said that Ms Mcerlain restrained the patient in order to trim her nails, and carried out the task without receiving the woman’s consent to do so.
She also allegedly failed to record the treatment in the woman’s notes.
Additional charges against Ms Mcerlain claim she failed to follow proper procedures after the same woman suffered a fall.
It is claimed she did not mention the incident on an accident form, the patient’s notes or any other paperwork and also failed to inform next of kin.
Following the fall, Ms Mcerlain is alleged to have moved the resident without using specialist hoist equipment.
On May 26 the same year, she is said to have administered medication to the woman using a method which had not been agreed in the patient’s care plan.
The following day she allegedly asked a healthcare assistant to administer medication to a patient.
The care home has since been taken over by a new company, Renaissance Care, and a spokeswoman said Ms Mcerlain no longer works at Beech Manor.
She will appear at the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) disciplinary hearing on May 27.
