A teenager caught with more than £100 of a class B drug, which he had just bought, has been fined.
At Perth Sheriff Court on Thursday Christopher Kelly admitted that on January 21 on the city’s South Street, he was in possession of cannabis.
The 18-year-old was searched by police after being spotted acting strangely on the street.
Depute fiscal Robbie Brown told the court: “It was 7.45am and the locus was at a bus stop.
“The accused started acting suspiciously. Police spoke to him and he appeared to be under the influence of drugs at the time.”
Mr Brown said Kelly was searched and the drug, which he said was valued at around £105, was found.
Solicitor Jamie Baxter, defending, said: “He fully cooperated with the police and admitted what he had just purchased. The cannabis was for his own use.”
Mr Baxter explained that Kelly had recently secured employment as a labourer but intended to start college after the summer and was, therefore, in a position to pay a financial penalty.
Sheriff Fiona Tait fined Kelly, of Shielhill Place, Stanley, £360.
