Jools Holland had the Perth audience eating out of his hand when his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra played a blistering Friday night set as part of the Perth Festival of the Arts.
The pianist had former Spice Girl Melanie C and singer Marc Almond joining him as special guests on stage at Perth Concert Hall.
The Rhythm and Blues Orchestra displayed real talent and energy and Jools Holland’s enthusiasm was infectious.
Holland has become a stalwart of the Perth Festival of the Arts, with last night’s show featuring Ain’t Misbehavin,’ It spells Love, and Well Alright, but the star of the show was Melanie C, who certainly ‘spiced’ up the evening.
Holland appeared as a musical director in the film Spice World and the pair certainly hit it off, playing a selection of classics.
One of the highlights was Gilson Lavis’s drum solo, followed by singer Ruby Turner who had the crowd on their feet.
The Rhythm and Blues Orchestra plays to audiences in excess of 300,000 each year.
